High atop the Mountain Star community, and nestled among a dense grove of mature aspen, this 6,500 s.f. residence trends toward the popular 'mountain modern' style while respecting the traditional design guidelines established by the original developers.  A simple lineal plan layout worked well on the site which added to overall building efficiencies and lower costs.  The rhythmic massing of architectural elements including low pitched metal roofs and native building materials helped blend the house to its natural surroundings.  The primary exterior materials were repurposed Montana barn wood and native smeared stone veneer which added a timeless feel.  The house was designed, built and sold as a speculative project for a local developer.
