vail residence 2

Positioned on a long and narrow lot, this novel house employed a lineal site plan which took advantage of the extreme mountain grades and the Gore Range mountain views to the east. Bold geometric forms were used to develop the design which evoked a simple purity in its architecture. Windows were expressed as punched-out openings creating rich depth to the various facades of the house while a continuous stone plinth floated the main portions of the house on the site giving it ship-like qualities. The interiors were designed to be uncluttered and cleanly tailored using a rift-cut oak millwork package throughout.
